Brooklyn Center belongs to the Brooklyn Center Independent School District #286. There are three schools in the area not including a community learning center and an area learning center. There is one elementary school - Earle Brown Elementary School for grades PK-6, one secondary school - the Brooklyn Center Secondary for grades 7-12 and the Joy in Learning Academy for grades K-6. Brooklyn Center focuses on its youth. Each summer there are activities planned for your child. Some of the activities include the Summer Fun Bus for grades 7 - 12, from June to August. It consists of bowling, skating and swimming, pre-registration is required. Boys and Girls Basketball Camp in August at the Brooklyn Center high School and Teen Zone, a program designed for and taught by teens. Activities include creative learning, hanging out with friends, playing basketball and eating snacks. The City of Brooklyn Center places a great deal of importance on safety. The Police Department Divisions are six highly organized departments which are strategically placed for your protection and needs. The Patrol Unit responds to emergency and non-emergency calls in the city. The Administration is the liaison between other City departments, and members of the community. The Investigations consists of detectives providing centralized investigations. The Records division provides information generated by all divisions in the Police Department. The Public Safety Communications is a Police station that answers general questions and refers people to the appropriate agencies. Brooklyn Center prides itself on its luxurious parks and recreation centers. There are over 522 acres of nature centers and parks in the city, each unique and offers something special for everyone. Not only is there an extensive park system in place, there is a 20 mile trail system that extends through all of the neighboring areas, and the Mississippi River just minutes away.
